Levens in WW1 Exhibition

Levens Local History Group have organised an exhibition on the weekend 10/11 November 2018 in St. John’s Church and Levens Institute, with refreshments in Levens Methodist Chapel

This will complement Levens Parish Council’s display of commemorative poppies, which can be seen in the centre of the village. The project will enable local people to come together to preserve the memories and heritage of the people who lived through the First World War. Volunteers have collected photographs, newspaper clippings, documents, keepsakes, letters and photographs, as well as family tales, which have enabled them to build a clear picture of what life was really like.

Free admission.

Refreshments available in Levens Methodist Church opposite.

Public consultation on Sizergh Fell Quarry site

PARTI are the prospective purchasers of Sizergh Fell Quarry and have shared the following information:

Please join PARTI architects for a public consultation regarding the new plans for the Sizergh Quarry site.

Location: The Strickland Arms
Date: Wednesday 19th September
Time: Drop in sessions anytime between 4 - 7pm

The architect team, PARTI, will be at the Strickland arms to discuss the latest proposal for the Sizergh Quarry site, and will bring drawings, images, and a model to help explain our ideas. The consultation is designed to be a meaningful one – PARTI will review the design following the consultation in light of new ideas and the views of the public. We are genuinely interested in hearing your thoughts, and hope this can be a positive process for all.

*Apologies for the short notice, we hope that many of you will be able to attend (if not, we would be happy to take a phone call or answer questions by email). The reason for the late notice is a compromise between two things:
- Including all the relevant strategies for parking and drainage from external consultants (which we felt were important to include); and
- Leaving enough time post-consultation for re-designing aspects of the scheme with respect to comments raised.
We hope you understand.
